The Breathing Hand is the second movement of my third album ‘Five Incantations’ and is a musical exploration of the element of Air; originally scored for four cellos. Mohan Rana wrote ‘The Crossing’ as a response to this music, and this is the text I have set within the music. Composed in Hindi, the poetry was translated from English to Polish by Adam Zdrodowski, with contributions by Weronika Czepulonis.
The Crossing
I’ll forget all, even though I was the past
I hear all now, I have become the Primal Sound.
I can see afar now, I have become the horizon.
I went away from all
Yet so close that inconspicuous; now I am one with your breath,
Effigy of clay, I have become the earth.
